So today apple released some new ipod products and software for itunes and i'm happy but sad in a lot of ways. I'll tell you why so here is the new line up...

So like it or not it became fat that also means a 320-by-240-resolution display with video and what apple says a 65% brighter screen. Still, they do kind of look ugly as sin and the colors... not working for me like the blue and whatever green that is...

It also sports the new interface (more on that later). They come in a 4 and 8 GB model starting at $150. Maybe because apple knows this little hefer maybe a hard buy, you get three free games Vortex, iQuiz, and Klondike. Not like you'll ever play any of these but you know.

Really though It almost makes the nano look ... cheap or like every other MP3 player.

Ah the classic. New interface same god old design. Not that the ipod is a bad design but it's really starting to show its age like every dell mid range tower sold to consumers...

With 80GB or 160GB of storage it's a bit sad that this model to buy if you watch or have a lot of videos and want to watch them on the go. Though it does come with a new metal shell! I guess apple was getting a bit pissed with people getting pissed the iPod would scratch when, you know... you looked at them. It also comes with Vortex, iQuiz, and Klondike again, games you'll almost never play and if you do... it'll be solitaire... you know it's true.

The photo section got an update however, if by update you mean a different background color then yeah sure!

As far as this goes it's the iphone set up. Nice interface works great.

WIFI web/youtube
The cool part is it has built in wi-fi like the iphone. However like the iphone it does not support flash so it has a separate youtube icon since it formats it in a different way. So yeah up yours Zune... sharing songs pffft freakin web browse bitch! What?

BUY MUSIC ONLINE THROUGH THE IPOD WOOT!!!
This part is cool. Finally you can buy music on the go and put it in your ipod. With the DRM free music I can see how this would work well but with the DRM... I have to check more on this cause that's a bit ehhh.

Starbucks music
Say you're listening to music in Starbucks and you like the song that's playing you can get it from your ipod and download it... I guess that's cool in an appleTV pointless kind of way...

It also has all the other glam and ah about the iphone from multi touch to ambient light sensors that knows when your outside or inside.

It also seems that the Touch is the same software hardware as the iphone. So while the apps from the iphone are not in the touch.... They will be soon (perhaps not from apple though) Mod community anyone?

What's not to like? two numbers 8 and 16 that's how many gigs are in the touch with a price of $300 and $400 I don't know. I mean it's nice it's a full screen video touch ipod but you would think this is meant for video and if it is, you kind of want more then just 16GB because let's face it, while we may not buy a lot of video from the store we do have a lot of converted video. I know I have about 4 or 5 movies on my ipod 30GB and that's not gonna have a lot of room for my video podcasts, 1 to 2 hour audio podcast and a couple hundred songs. Is this really worth it? I don't know.

It also seems from an Engadget posting that the Touch may have blue tooth built in like the iphone. Wireless stereo headphones anyone? Or even blue tooth transfers instead of docking? I hope so but i'm guessing not. Thanks apple.. thanks A LOT!

iTunes

iTunes got a lift or at least getting one. The big one? Purchase tracks through the ipod and wifi. FINALLY! I hope it works and not bugged the hell out thanks to DRM.

From what apple says all you do is sync your ipod to your mac or pc and it just transfers and you can sync with any other ipod product like it was nothing... we'll see apple... we'll see.

Ringtones aka the rip off buy

ok HOW THE HELL are you going to charge me an extra 99¢ for a song I already own and have to cut to what really should be a "sample" you usually get in the itunes store? HOW?! This is just a rip off a total rip off. I'm not going to even go into how this works or if it's worth it, because unless your some kind of sad retarded born yesterday clone type deal you'll know if this is worth it or not.. jack asses.


Extra notes:

• It seems you can "shuffle" without going to the main menu but through a couple button presses
• Coverflow works but a bit slow and small
• Customize the main and music menu
• With the iPod touch you cannot email youtube videos or photos to friends like the iphone

So what do I think of the new iPods? Eh really just Eh just like the new mac designs, the only thing that has me excited is the mod community for the ipod and the next OS.

I don't like the colors really, I don't like that the touch (true video ipod) at it's highest has a 16GB drive and I don't like the style of the nano.

Not that I hate any of them I just think this is apple, these are kind of eh products. I guess we'll have to see about upgrades to drives and maybe style or color changes.

Myst ds... ah no

We all remember Myst.... well some of us. A point and click puzzle game. Either you loved it or hated it (For the most part, you hate) but it was a relaxing game to play on the old computer once in a while. However this is not a "lite" game. I remember writing things down on paper working sometimes 20 minutes just to figure what the hell was going on. So when I saw this...

Ok, first of all I really didn't like how you "zoomed" into text on the opera browser and I'm sure has hell not going to like reading "script" looking at drawings like this either.

Second of all, the ambient noises and sound was great. While the Speakers on the ds are ok.... they're not going to capture that feel the old Myst games had.

It really doesn't look like it adds anything new, and a game like this was death on a console forget a hand held a system designed for pick up and go gaming ... WTF? Who thought this was a good idea anyway? Who thought that for some reason someone would want to play this on a DS? Who I ask WHO?
